Heraldry
"Heraldry is the science that studies armorial bearings, the coloured emblems pertaining to an individual, a family or a community. Their composition is governed by the specific rules of blazon ..."
(Michael Pastoureau, 1996)
Members of The Heraldry & Genealogy Society of Canberra enthusiastically pursue their passion for heraldry. We meet regularly to discuss topics of interest. We actively campaign for the establishment of an Australian Heraldic Authority, and an improved design of the Australian Capital Territory flag. We undertake 'outreach' activities giving lectures to students, and providing advice on heraldic design.
Our web site, which contains a roll of some Australian arms, provides a flavour for the subject and links to other sites of heraldic importance.
